The regulatory framework of selling ship for recycling has become complex and INGEMAR is conversant with the following legal instruments:

- Regulation (EU) No 1257/2013 on Ship Recycling (EU-SRR)
- Basel Convention on the movements of hazardous wastes, 1989
- Regulation (EC) No 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2006 on shipments of waste
